Muscle-Building Workout and Diet

Hi guys ! Welcome back to my channel, I hope you are doing well. In today’s video, I’m gonna be taking you through five, very important things you should consider before getting yourself a mass gainer. A mass gainer is basically a weight gain supplement. and the one I have with me is the one by optimum nutrition. However, this one is empty. I finished it in June last year, but I still have the bottle. As you can see it’s empty. So in today’s video, I’m gonna be sharing with you what my thoughts are and, what exactly you should consider before purchasing the mass gainer. So without talking too much. Let’s jump right into the video. So before you even spend your money on this you need to understand what exactly a mass gainer powder is. A mass gainer is basically a mixture of carbohydrates and protein, and as I mentioned in my previous video when I spoke about what supplements are, These things I found from our normal food Okay so it’s not a magical powder which – when you take it all of a sudden you’re going to Get buff and you know? get your gains. It’s just a mixture of blended carbohydrates alongside things like protein and amino acids, a couple of vitamins and minerals here and there. Everything about your mass gainer is listed down here in the ingredients. This is a dietary supplement, Meaning that the contents within it are found from your meals. They are gotten from your meals. So the first thing you need to know is that you are going to gain weight. Okay So the weight is either going to be fat or it’s going to be muscle. That is highly dependent, On whether or not you are on weight lifting or any other form of resistance training. If you do take the mass gainer or if you are on a caloric surplus, Which the mass gainer puts you on, and you aren’t training, you aren’t exercising, Then you will gain fat. If you do take the mass gainer and you are training, You’re lifting heavy. You’re doing your cardio You are putting in the work at the gym. Then you will build up some lean muscle mass. From my experience, I felt like utilizing the mass gainer, was more of a dirty bulk because the quality of the calories in which I was ingesting didn’t match up to Quality of calories which I would ingest when I was consuming whole meals and whole foods, you know? I can’t really compare the complex carbs like sweet potatoes and brown rice and oatmeal and the density in in the nutrients in which they hold to the mass gainer. Yeah, so to me, it felt like it was more of a dirty bulk. Meaning that I was putting on weight, but The value, the quality in which I was ingesting, the quality of the calories and the food in which I was ingesting, I didn’t really feel like it was worth it, because afterwards, I felt like I had to work really really really really hard to shed off the fat in order to reveal whatever muscle I had built during my bulk. so you really have to consider that. As you may know, two scoops of this mass gainer contain 1250 calories. So that is extremely, extremely high. The second thing to consider is that you need to know whether or not you have an allergic reaction to some of the ingredients which are contained within the mass gainer itself. This one by serious mass has an allergen information, meaning that if you are allergic to some of the ingredients which are inside the mass gainer itself, such as milk, eggs, wheat and soy, If you have any intolerance as to those ingredients, Then this may not be the best bet for you. There are people who will literally die Literally lose their lives because of the allergic reactions their bodies develop to some of these ingredients so if your system is quite quite sensitive to some of those ingredients, highly consider that. The third thing you need to know is that This is just a carbohydrate drink as I have mentioned earlier. Whatever you are getting from this mass gainer, You can easily – very, very easily get it from your actual meals. You really don’t need to spend money on a mass gainer if you can easily meet your daily recommendations on carbohydrates through your meals. If you are eating your your rice, you’re eating your potatoes, your oatmeal, you know all your healthy complex carbs over there, then you’re good to go ! You really do not need to supplement using a mass gainer. As I had mentioned in my previous video supplements only come in to fill in a gap so if you feel like you aren’t really ingesting enough carbohydrates and your fitness goal is probably to put on mass, then that’s when you consider getting the mass gainer to come in there fill in the gap and help you meet your daily macros at the end of the day. The fourth thing you need to consider before purchasing your mass gainer, is that you need to get clearance from a certified nutritionist or a dietician. and you’ll also need clearance from your physician. Getting clearance and guidance from a nutritionist will help you better understand why exactly you need this – if you actually do need it, Yeah, sometimes honestly people just buy these things cause of the hype, or cause of being pressured or cuz of, you know, just train their luck, so that things can work out. Get to know more about these supplements, get to know about the mass gainer -whether or not you really need it, whether you can just meet all your Carbohydrates intakes through your meals, so you really don’t need to spend money on a mass gainer Another thing that is of critical importance is that if you are suffering from a mental disorder, like bulimia or anorexia, It is highly, highly recommended, of you to contact your nutritionist, contact your physician and also contact your Psychiatrist or psychologist or therapist prior to making such major changes in your dietary habits. The last thing that you need to know about the mass gainer is that it is not a meal replacement. Just because you have the mass gainer, it doesn’t mean that now you’re going to stop eating your meals. Yeah, I’ve seen so many people do this. It is so so wrong. You’re doing a disservice to your system. You’re missing out on the other macronutrients and micronutrients groups, So you need your protein, you need your fats, You need your minerals and your vitamins. Just because you’re trying to gain weight It doesn’t mean now the carbohydrates are now the priority of the list, You’re not even going to eat anything, You’re just going to be drinking your mass gainer shake. No. You really just need to be at a calorie surplus and the surplus needs to account for every micronutrient and macronutrient group. You need to be at a surplus on your proteins, on your carbohydrates and on your fats, In order to help you really achieve that weight gain you’re looking for. So if you are taking the mass gainer, make sure that you are pairing it up with your meals. Yeah and make sure that The mass gainer is inclusive of your total daily caloric intake, and if you take that route, then you’ll be good to go. Okay guys, that is all from me today. As my final say, I really don’t think the mass gainer is worth it, at least for me right now because if I want to gain weight All I have to do is just eat a calorie surplus And we don’t need to spend a lot of money on a mass gainer, when I can get the exact same thing from my meals. I found the mass gainer to be very useful to me when I was in Uni, You know with those back-to-back classes You’re at the library the entire day, hitting assignments doing this doing this running errands.. You barely have time to eat. It really helped me fill in the gaps in my nutrition, and therefore I was able to really maintain my weight But for now if I need to gain weight, all I need to do is it’s more food than usual get on a calorie surplus and I’ll be good to go! so weigh out all your options, do your research, talk to a nutritionist, talk to a certified dietician and Also do what is best for you. But at the end of the day remember that supplements are really not a must. All in all guys, thank you so much for tuning in, and I will see you in my next video, Bye-bye !
