(00:00-02:13) ”There are to lifts in olympic
weightlifting, snatch and clean and jerk. The total of both lifts is what gives the medals
in olympic weightlifting. In snatch the lifter? is as closed to the bar as possible, he sits
down having hischest up and his back completel straight while his hands are wide open. The
grip is wide because the bar must constntly move off the floor to the top of the head.
We will lift the bar in one continues move in contrast to the two-phased clean n jerk.Just
one move like this one made by the lifter. When the weight gets heavier the lifter forced
to stand under the bar.The athlete lifts the weight as high as possible and then he drops
his body under the bar having his hands straight. If the hands bend, and in fact we press the weight
through a shorter lifting attempt of the main lift, then the attempt is invalid. To achieve
a valid lift we must have our hands straight and lift the bar over the head, over the centre
of the body. This is the snatch. (02:48-03:22) Clean and jerk divides in two
parts. At first we have to lift the bar on? the top of the shoulders and then the jerk
is the explosive lift of the bar over the topof the head having the hands straight. If
there is any type of bending or re-press of the bar, the lift is invalid. In the clean,
if there is any touch of the elbows on the knees or quads the lift is invalid. The? only
thing the bar has to do is to be dragged on owr body and be lifted. (03:22-04:10) Clean
and jerk is performed with a drag lift of the bar over our body till the shoulder and
then is followed by an explosive lift over the head. This is the clean and jerk. In clean
and jerk we can also see the jerk-press, in which there isn’t any split (scissor move)
of the legs but the lifter drops his body under the bar.The bar goes over the head and
the body is moving down. This is the jerk press. It is also a valid lift. The only thing
we shouldn’t do is? any kind of two-phased press, where we press bar till a point and
then re-press.That’s invalid. The bar must constantly move over the top. These are the
two lift, the snatch and the clean n jerk. (04:43-06:14) Each athletes do 3 lifting attempts
in snatch and 3 in clean n jerk.If two athletes have the same total, then the lifter with
the lower bodyweight is the winner. There are three referees in the meet, a clerk, a doctor,
a technical observer and judjing commission.White light means that the lift is vali and red
means that the lift is invalid. An attempt isinvalid if the lifter can’t manage to be
in a completely straight line with the bar over his head.If he drops the bar before?
referees’s singal. If he touches the floor wih any body part except his feet.If he desn’t
have both of his hands completely straight as he comletes the attempt. If he rests the
bar on his shoulders and then forces it over the head with their help.If in snatch, he
stops for a while before the lifting of the weight. There are eight bodyweiht men categories
which start from 56kg to +105kgThere are also seven women categories from? 46kg to +75kg.
(06:15-07:36) A lifter can start weightlifting at the age of 10y/o, mostly as a game, performing
three 45′ workouts/week in addition to other sports, having as main goal to teach the proper
technique of the snatch and clean and jerk. When the kid reaches the age of 14 he is able t
start doing competitive weightlifting.According to the rules the kid can participate in weightlifting
events.Of course we never forcea young kid to extreme loads. At first kids have to learn
how to lift properly and then till the age of 17 where finally there is the first serious
coachable phase of weightliting.Kids perform low weight training sessions 3-4times/week
and through the meets we can individualise? the best lfter of them. There are 80 weightlifting
teams in Greece. From all of these teams the best lifters will be seperated gradually and
then the best of them can participate in the greek olympic weightlifting team, every 4
years in the olympic games. (08-04-09:33) From 17 to 20 they? start to
do 6-8 training sessions per week especially the athletes who gonna be professionals. The
other who aren’t gonna be proos can just lift to have a beautifull body and a very good
character as weightlifting can build a great character due to the discipline this sport
requires. If someone can’t have discipline then he has to leave the sport in young age.Only
kids? with a strong character can do weightlifting and become proos.
(09:33-11:13) The atletes or the parents of the athlete who wants to do weightlifting
shouldn’t be afraid of the rumors that weightlifting makes you become short. This is is a big lie, scientifically
approved. As height has to do mostly with DNA and nutrition.A body under stress can be developed
and a? kd can become taller. The men’s and women’s bw cateories are made under scientific
research of scientists with the purpose of doing the sport not just for few people but
for man people. An athlete which is naturally short, around 1.50-1.60 will participat at
56-62kg bw categories. The athlete around 1.65-1.70 will participate at 69-77kg. If this ahlete
becomes taller through the years and reaches the 1.77-1.80 he will participate at 94-105kg
and if he becomes even taller he will will participate? at the heavy weights which is
an open category over 105kg. (11:52-12:22) The greek weightlifting team
is one of the best.In three consecutive olympic events in Barcelona, in Atlanta and in Sydney
greek athletes won 11 olympic medals. In Atlanta, greek weightlifting team won the first place
in medals. In Sydney the won five olympic medals, 4 in men’s categories andone in women’s.
(12:47-13:29) This is weightlifting. It’s a sport for everyone! We are waiting for all
the young boys and girls to start weightlifting.

That's it,i translated it all!All the best, keep up the great work!

  14. @crackyflipside No problem! Thanks for the great videos!
Ps. Reading again my translation, i realise that i have forgotten some letters in some words due to the fact that i was trying to translate as fast as possible.. For any problems with the syntax you should blame Mr.Iakovou :PP

  15. Haha im in this video this is going back a while thanks for posting this up… some good memories of the Greek team back in the glory days

  16. @NorwichGrad97 we dont even have bumper plates in the small cities, i dont see mexico winning a gold medal in weightlifting soon, so much potential yet so much stupidity. But yeah there are many curlfags in the US, specially in highschool.

  17. High bar squats dont fuck up your knees, and olympic weightlifting has one of the lowest injury rates of any olympic sport. Its all about good form and dat calf flexibility.

  18. Anyone on here saying the squatting all the way down is bad for your knees has clearly never done any true research on the body, it's proven that squatting to parallel is much harder on the knees than going through the full range of motion, most injuries in oly weightlifting are overuse injuries, just like all other skill/precision sports.

  19. @Wading Bird: I think that's because its one of the less popular sports. Also, I didn't see any other events where anyone dislocated an elbow two Olympics in a row.

  20. hi what do you mean with 1.50-1.60 or 1.65-1.70 are those CM ? i dont know what you mean with that is it height size of my body frame i dont know what category i am because im 5'7" 5 feet with 7inch tall. what size am i ?
am i on the 1.65-1.70 69-77kg ? but explain first whats the 1.65-1.70 means is it that Centimeters or something ? thanks and yes im 5'7" tall with 165lbs i dont know what category i should be ?

  21. Hi. Yeah, it's a reference for the height size in centimeters. You're 5'7'' as you said which means that's you're 1m and 73cm, i think, or at least sth close to that.Your bw is 165lbs which is around 75kg. I think that a 77kg weight class would be ok for you.

  22. Hi and thanks for the video. Youtube is made for this form of thing. My good friend was previously bullied. He said he was gonna get bigger. I did not believe him. Til he packed on 40 pounds of 100 % pure muscle mass. He tried the Muscle Building Bible (Google it). He doesn't get bullied anymore. 🙂

I registered a few days ago. See what the results are. Not to mention this mans emails are cool…

  23. Thanks a ton for the movie. Fall in love with You tube for this type of material…

My best friend had been bullied. He stated he was intending to get bigger. I chuckled at him. I didn't think he would for a second…. Right up until in a matter of weeks he gained 40 pounds of pure lean muscle mass. He tried the Muscle Building Bible (look for it in Google). Not a soul dares to intimidate the man nowadays. 🙂 I actually subscribed a few days ago. See what the results are.

  24. has any one the ability to make a captioned video, i'd love to learn greek, but i'm busy watching youtube. link it if you know of it. lift and love

  25. Hey guys. Fabulous vid.

My older brother was formerly a fatty. He went from 284lbs of fat to 205lbs of pure muscle mass. I could not believe it! I just registered personally as I would like to greatly enhance my body. He made use of the Muscle Building Bible (Google it)…
