I’m going to show you guys how to do an overhead tricep extension with an EZ curl bar What you want to do is sit down and seen like this where the back comes up just above your shoulders Sit all the way back Put your feet on the pegs. You’re going to grab the inside grip of the EZ curl bar Get it to here over your head now what you want to do is make sure you keep your wrists straight You’re going to bring it back and come down keep your elbows as close as you can to your head as you go heavier They may fray a bit Just because the weights could put a lot of pressure on the elbow So to compensate for that you’re going to widen your elbows a little bit and push straight up Make sure you come down just about 90 degrees. Which is about right here breathe out on the way up Bring it down Breathe out on the way up One more bring it down Breathe out the way up, and that’s how you do an overhead tricep extension using an EZ curl bar Hope you guys enjoyed this video and as always More good stuff coming soon.   2. Exercises like this and skull crushers give me some pain in my forearms, but only for the first rep or two. (But still happens on start of every set) Could this be down to the way I hold the bar? Or using too much weight?

    Well if you sit with back support like Scott does in the video your butt should be all the way back and your back should be straight. As you said, lock your core 🙂

  4. I like this with a straight bar, hits the triceps in a huge way then. I alternate this exercise and traditional lying skull crushers from week-to-week.

  5. @IrishRhavin It might feel a little awkward at first, but if you're wrists are parallel you're going to hit the long head of the tricep more exclusively, it will also force you to keep your elbows in to prevent discomfort.

  8. @jgq85 yes but why would you? Puts more stress on the body / back. Sitting isolates the tri's which is the point of the exercise.

  9. scott my question is unrelated to this video but
    i really need some advice
    i have hard time moving up on weights now
    for example hammer curl im stuck at 40lb
    arnold shoulder press stuck at 45lb
    …etc
    i always push myslef but just cant seem to add more weights
    any advice?

  17. Man, I went heavy on these with bad form a month ago. Now my elbow joint is fucked up, I'm  going to get an x-ray. From now on I'm checking youtube videos.

I have recently quit the gym and bought dumbbells, an adjustable bench incline flat decline and upright and a standard 6 foot barbell, if i was to do exercises like this and bicep curls would it be best to buy a short barbell as well? Would my 6 foot barbell not be suitable for this and similar exercises?
