today I’m going to show you how to tone
and strengthen your upper arms shoulders and those flabby bat wings in a fun
workout for women over 50 all you need is a yoga block or something from home
that is a similar size and that will be perfect and today we’re filming at
Pyrmont in Sydney Harbour and there’s the Harbour Bridge so hello to everyone
from Australia let’s get going this exercise is toning and
strengthening our shoulders and our arms it looks really easy but the key is to
fully engage your muscles all the time when you feel the burn of this that’s
when you’re doing your toning apply pressure to the block with your fingers
and squeeze in feel your arms activating feel them strong and keep them strong
throughout the whole workout it’s important to activate all of our
muscles otherwise they will atrophy which leads to limited mobility and
physical signs of aging and that’s our number one job we must stop that from
happening keep your arms tight keep them strong
keep them activated remember at this time to hold the core in tight squeeze
the gluts and you’ll get triple the results for this next exercise we’re
going to continue on to stay completely engaged in our arms our shoulders and
our core plus squeeze your glutes keep your hands straight and move your arms
to the side without twisting the torso keep your eyes to the front and feel the
stretch in your hips and your waist okay change directions now another 30
seconds on this side take a moment here to release the pressure in your arms can
you feel the difference yep get back to pushing it in with your fingers very
very tight and hold on the goal here is to squeeze the muscles the whole time
and that’s when it’s going to work for you the next exercise is arm pulses
we’re going to do one minute going forwards and one minute going backwards
hold your arms very very tight activate every muscle in your arm hold in your
core and squeeze your glutes now this looks kind of easy but you just wait
keep going keep your arms up high don’t let your arms drop you’re doing great
come on keep going if you’re struggling here drop your arms for two seconds and
get them straight back up again if you can do this for a full minute on both
arms you’re doing really really well awesome ok shake shake now go the other
way we’re going to pulse toward the front and again keep your arms very
activated hold every muscle in your arms and hold it tight
ads and glutes and keep your shoulders high now that we’re over 50 we must do some
form of physical exercise every single day because exercise enhances our mood
by releasing endorphins that make us feel good it’s a natural antidepressant
we’ve got to be exercising we’ve got to stay strong and we’ve got to stay
healthy keep going keep going keep going done let me know if you felt that burn this exercise is called ballerina arms
it’s a Pilate exercise that turns the upper arms and shoulders you need to
squeeze all of your arm muscles for this exercise to work and it’s kind of fun
you feel like a ballerina and it’s so nice okay turn your hands the other way and
continue on for another 30 seconds everything in your body right now is
fully engaged it looks a lot easier than what it is keep going you’re doing a
great job a little bit of an uncomfortable feeling now we’ll reap
great benefits later on well done that was amazing
it’s time to stretch now and it’s super important to stretch after you exercise
take a slow breath in and out there’s nothing better than the feeling of a
good stretch you’ve done such a great job and just by doing this five-minute
arm workout today you’re setting yourself up for a future of health and

  4. That’s awesome Schellea. I exercise 6 days a week. I have Saturdays off as I work a 9hr shift . My hubbie and I drive to the seaside after dinner every evening for a vigorous 1 hr walk. It’s pretty there, and there’s always a cool bay breeze which entices us. I alternate doing my cross training vid which includes aerobics, legwork, and arm weights. Every other day I do an arm workout, and hop on the stationery bike. An hour before bed, I do a 1 hr yoga workout from YouTube. I love it. I also do a brilliant meditation and as I can’t sleep much due to menopause, I often have earbuds in, listening to theta or binaural beats, which is beautiful music, but actually changes your neural pathways in your brain for certain things.   6. You're amazing girl. I am a new watcher/subscriber now 60, man your body changes then! What about a diet/meal plan vid?? You are in great shape. It's a time thing – still have to work full time and find it quite exhausting. Added to that just had an accident affecting my tailbone when a girl backed her car into mine and sent me flying. Can't tolerate any pressure or impact on that area at the moment but will try these arms.

  19. I am quite worried just noticed that my Left side of back body drooped including my left face, body until lower back. I have yet to have any symptoms of Stroke except the physical changes. I move around as a normal person and still speaks well. I am a Diabetic patient, including Blood pressure and Osteoathritis. Body's aching all over for past years. Does massage and exercise give great alternative for physical improvements? Thank you.
